Visiting Villa d’Este means discovering a true masterpiece of Italian garden design.
Commissioned by Cardinal Ippolito II d’Este, who sought to revive the splendor of the courts of Ferrara, Rome, and Fontainebleau and to recreate the magnificence of Villa Adriana, Villa d’Este is famous for its garden, which is sure to amaze you with its impressive array of fountains, nymphaea, grottoes, water features, and hydraulic music.
NOTE: In the event of rainfall and the resulting rise in the water level of the Aniene River, the water supply to the Villa’s fountains may be temporarily suspended.

WHERE

MEETING POINT
Entrance and exit on Piazza Trento.
Exit via Piazza Campitelli is mandatory on the first Sunday of the month.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The water organ of the Organ Fountain is activated daily, starting at 10:30 a.m., every two hours.
Some areas of the villa may be closed for restoration; please check with the ticket office for information. Please exercise particular caution in areas marked with warning signs.
In the event of rainfall and the resulting rise in the water level of the Aniene River, the water supply to the Villa’s fountains may be temporarily suspended.

HOW TO GET THERE

BY CAR

From Rome: Take the A24 highway and exit at Tivoli; continue on the Maremmana Inferiore road until it joins Via Tiburtina. Continue to the center of Tivoli. Alternatively, take Via Tiburtina directly.
From L’Aquila: Take the A24 highway to the Castel Madama exit, then take Via Empolitana and Via Acquaregna, following the signs to the city center.
Parking: Multi-story parking garage at the foot of Rocca Pia, a few hundred meters from Villa d’Este, or alternatively, parking in Piazza Garibaldi (both require payment).

BUS/METRO

From Rome: Take Metro Line B to the Ponte Mammolo stop; from there, take a Co.Tra.L. bus via Prenestina or via Tiburtina, or take the highway (preferred) to Tivoli. Get off at the Largo delle Nazioni Unite stop (near Piazza Garibaldi) and continue on foot for a few dozen meters.
From Villa Adriana: Take the local CAT 4 bus or the Co.Tra.L. bus via Tiburtina, which stops about one kilometer from the Villa Adriana site.

TRAIN

From Termini Station or Tiburtina Station, take the train to the Tivoli FS station. Continue on foot, following the signs for Villa d’Este.
